Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has extended warm greetings to the Muslim faithful in Edo State, Nigeria, and around the world on the joyous occasion of Eid al-Adha.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Fred Itua, in Benin City, Governor Okpebholo described the Eid festival as a significant event that symbolizes sacrifice, obedience, and devotion to Almighty Allah.

He urged Muslims to reflect on the core lessons of the celebration, compassion, generosity, and submission to God’s will, noting that the example set by Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) serves as a timeless reminder of faith and selflessness.

“As we commemorate Eid al-Adha, let us be reminded of the spirit of sacrifice exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim,” Governor Okpebholo said. “This moment calls for us to deepen our faith, uphold the values of peaceful coexistence, and extend hands of friendship to our neighbours, regardless of their religious beliefs.”

Governor Okpebholo stressed the need for unity, peace, and understanding among the people of Edo State, particularly at a time when harmony and collective efforts are crucial for the state’s progress. He reassured the Muslim community of his administration’s commitment to promoting an inclusive society where the rights and freedoms of all are respected and protected.

“My administration remains dedicated to creating an Edo State where peace, growth, and opportunities are available to all citizens,” he stated. “Let us use this sacred period to pray for continued peace, security, and development in our state and the country at large.”

The Governor also urged residents to celebrate responsibly, observe safety measures, and extend kindness to the less privileged by sharing the blessings of the season.

On behalf of the government and the people of Edo State, Governor Okpebholo wished the Muslim Ummah a peaceful, blessed, and memorable Eid al-Adha celebration.
