The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday, 31st March, and Tuesday, 1st April 2025, as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government. He congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and urged them to uphold the values of self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace.

Dr Tunji-Ojo emphasised the significance of love, forgiveness, and unity in fostering a harmonious society. He also called on Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for peace, stability, and prosperity in the country.

“The occasion of Eid-el-Fitr should inspire unity and cooperation across religious and ethnic lines,” the Minister stated, adding that citizens should celebrate responsibly and extend acts of kindness to the less privileged, in line with the true essence of Ramadan and Eid.

On behalf of the Federal Government, Dr Tunji-Ojo wished all Muslim faithful Eid Mubarak and prayed that the blessings of the season bring joy, success, and fulfilment to all.

The declaration was signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr Magdalene Ajani, and dated 26th March 2025.
