Grace Ike inaugurates 7-MAN Press Centre Management Committee
The Comrade Grace Ike-led Executive of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council has inaugurated a seven-member Press Centre Management Committee, headed by Mrs. Moji Damisa as Chairman.
The inauguration, which took place on Tuesday at the council secretariat in Utako, Abuja, was attended by the Vice Chairman, Yahaya Ndambabo and the Secretary of the Council, Comrade Jide Oyekunle.
Other members of the committee include Mr. Osi Sam Ede (Secretary), Mr. Alex Umoru (Member), and Stanley Nwosu (Member). Additional members are Chika Alexander Eze, Abubakar Akwanga and Nwagwu Daniel Chibueze.

The committee has been tasked with ensuring the efficient and effective management of the council and maintaining order within the council’s premises.
Terms of Reference and Responsibilities
The committee’s responsibilities are outlined as follows:
Collection and Management of Rents: Collect and manage rents from all outdoor tenants and vendors, except for the property occupied by OTIS Electronics.
Maintaining Order: Ensure orderliness within the premises of the Council.
Secretariat Tenant Compliance: Enforce compliance by tenants with standing rules and regulations, including closing times for group or association meetings, loitering, and environmental cleanliness, as agreed upon by the committee.
Accommodating New Tenants: Facilitate accommodation for additional tenants or vendors where necessary, fostering healthy competition.
Space Demarcation: Demarcate spaces allotted to each tenant/vendor and prohibit unauthorised meetings by towns, associations, or groups within the premises of the Secretariat.
Removal of Illegal Structures: Oversee the removal of illegal structures, especially those behind the large hall, to allow the council to rebuild a state-of-the-art hall.
Restriction on Overnight Stays: Ensure that no staff or workers of any vendor/tenant sleep within the Secretariat premises, including the hall or other areas.
Environmental Cleanliness: Mandate daily cleaning of the environment by all vendors, with a specific day set aside for general sanitation.
The committee is also expected to collaborate with security agents engaged by the council.
The chairman and secretary of the committee are to regularly brief the council secretary on the committee’s operations and provide periodic reports to Congress.
In her remarks, Comrade Grace Ike congratulated the committee members for accepting the call to serve.
She urged them to support the new Council Executive in its mission to elevate the NUJ FCT Council to greater heights.
