Olatunji Disu has directed Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders across the country to implement comprehensive security measures ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

The directive covers all states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, with a focus on ensuring a safe and peaceful festive period for citizens.

As part of the arrangements, the IGP ordered the deployment of Special Intervention Squad operatives alongside conventional police personnel to Eid prayer grounds and other critical infrastructure.

Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, disclosed that commands have been instructed to intensify security presence in public spaces.

These include highways, motor parks, recreational centres, and other high-traffic locations to guarantee hitch-free celebrations.

According to him, the operational measures will involve strategic deployment of tactical teams and intelligence operatives across the country.

He added that the police will also carry out heightened visibility policing, coordinated patrols, enhanced surveillance operations, and intelligence-led stop-and-search duties.

The measures, he said, are aimed at deterring criminal activities and ensuring rapid response to any security threats during the festive period.

The IGP also extended Eid-el-Fitr greetings to Muslim faithful, congratulating them on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

Emergency lines provided by the police include: 08057000001, 08057000002, 09133333785, and 09133333786.
