Ilebaye, brothers in police protective custody after Abuja family altercation

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has moved former Big Brother Naija winner, , and her two younger brothers into protective custody following a violent confrontation involving their father, Emmanuel Odiniya, in Abuja.

According to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the siblings — Ilebaye Odiniya Emmanuel (27), Godson Emmanuel Odiniya (14), and Devin Emmanuel Odiniya (10) — were rescued and rushed to Yabisam Hospital in Lugbe alongside their father, who also sustained injuries during the incident.

Adeh disclosed that the rescue operation was led by the Area Commander Metro, ACP Ufomadu Georglyn.

“The rescued siblings are currently in police protective custody, contrary to the circulating publications being released online, while their father, who is also receiving medical treatment, remains in police custody,” the statement read.

The police added that investigations are ongoing and questioning of all parties will begin once doctors certify them medically stable.

The incident reportedly occurred at the family residence in Royal Anchor Estate, Wuye, Abuja, after an alleged dispute escalated into physical assault.

A viral video which surfaced online showed Ilebaye crying with visible facial injuries while calling for help, sparking widespread reactions on social media.

Police said officers from the Wuye Division and operatives of the Department of Operations responded to a distress call around midnight on Friday.

“Upon arrival, officers discovered that the gate to the residence was locked. After several attempts, access was gained into the compound at about 2:30 a.m. Ms. Ilebaye Odiniya, who was found with visible bruises, was rescued alongside her brothers and rushed to NNPC Hospital Abuja,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, the children’s mother, Mrs. Lami, alleged that the confrontation started when Ilebaye visited the house to see her younger brothers and discuss plans for her 24th birthday celebration.

She claimed the argument worsened after their father allegedly accused the reality TV star of being influenced by her mother amid an ongoing family dispute linked to the collapse of their 32-year marriage.
