JUST-IN: Tinubu seeks Senate approval for Three non-career Ambassadorial nominees
President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to screen and confirm three non-career ambassadorial nominees.
The nominees are Kayode Are from Ogun State, Aminu Dalhatu from Jigawa State, and Ayodele Oke from Oyo State.
Tinubu’s request was conveyed in a letter read during plenary by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
According to the President, the nominations were made in line with Section 171 (1), (2)(c) and (4) of the 1999 Constitution as amended. He urged the Senate to “consider and confirm the appointments of the nominees expeditiously,” while extending his “assurances of highest consideration” to the lawmakers.
Akpabio later referred the nominees to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, chaired by Senator Sani Bello, for screening. The committee is expected to report back to the Senate within one week.
