Liverpool Star Diogo Jota’s funeral begins today in Portugal

The funeral of Liverpool forward Diogo Jota is set to begin today at 3pm, following the heartbreaking road accident that claimed his life and that of his brother, Andre Silva.
The wake is being held in São Cosme, not far from Jota’s hometown of Porto in northern Portugal.
This tragedy comes barely two weeks after the 28-year-old footballer tied the knot with his childhood love, Rute, in a joyful Catholic ceremony attended by close family and friends. The funeral service has been scheduled for Saturday at 10am.
Portuguese media reports that the fatal crash happened when the acid green £180,000 Lamborghini Huracan they were travelling in suffered a tyre blowout while overtaking another vehicle on the A-52 at Cernadilla, near Zamora — just ten miles from the Portuguese border. The brothers were reportedly on their way to Santander to catch a ferry to the UK.
It was gathered that Jota, who recently underwent lung surgery, had been advised against air travel, leading him to opt for the road trip. The Liverpool star was preparing for his return to Britain to join pre-season training, which is scheduled to begin on Monday.
Fans, family, and football lovers around the world continue to mourn the sudden loss of a promising talent whose career and life were tragically cut short.
