NUJ FCT Council partners Bespoke Holdings to complete ultra-modern Congress Hall
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, has entered into a strategic partnership with Bespoke Holdings for the completion of its Ultra-Modern Congress Hall in Abuja.
The partnership was formalised on Friday during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists FCT Council to the management of Bespoke Holdings, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen strategic collaborations and enhance professional infrastructure and welfare for journalists in the Federal Capital Territory.
Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, described the Congress Hall project as a key legacy initiative designed to provide a suitable venue for congresses, training programmes, professional engagements, and other major union activities.
She said the completion of the facility would significantly improve the Council’s operational capacity and support the continuous professional development of journalists in the FCT.
Comrade Ike expressed appreciation to Bespoke Holdings for its willingness to partner with the Council, noting that the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to nation-building, corporate social responsibility, and the strengthening of the media as a vital pillar of democracy.
Members of the NUJ delegation included the Vice Chairman, Yahaya Ndambabo; Secretary of Council, Comrade Jide Oyekunle; Assistant Secretary, Sharon Emephia; Treasurer, Sandra Udeike; Auditor, Rosemary Ukoko-Tega; and Financial Secretary, Henry Abimiku. Others were Juliet Dangiwa and Elder Alfa Jacqdeen.
In his response, the Managing Director of Bespoke Holdings, Dr Christian Olatunji, reaffirmed the company’s readiness to support the completion of the Ultra-Modern Congress Hall, stressing the importance of a strong and vibrant media sector in promoting transparency, accountability, and sustainable development.
He commended journalists for their role in speaking truth to power, often at personal risk, and described the media as indispensable to Nigeria’s democratic process.
“Yes, we want to be part of what the NUJ is doing. Without journalists, one can only imagine what Nigerian politics would have become. Even now, accountability is a challenge; imagine a society without journalists and with everything left to social media,” he said.
Dr Olatunji added that the company would assess the project site to determine the level of support it could provide, noting that Bespoke Holdings remains open to meaningful partnerships that strengthen journalism and democratic institutions.
The visit also created an opportunity for both parties to explore wider areas of collaboration, including media engagement, strategic communication, and long-term partnerships of mutual benefit.
The NUJ FCT Ultra-Modern Congress Hall, when completed, is expected to serve as a landmark facility for journalists in the Federal Capital Territory, symbolising unity, professionalism, and progress within Nigeria’s media landscape.
