What an inspiring way to begin the week
In a thrilling and challenging encounter during the official Tonto Dike Abuja Charity Marathon Ambassadors football match, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, defied the odds to secure a remarkable 2–0 victory.

The mixed-gender match took a dramatic turn after NUJ received two red cards and four yellow cards, leaving our team with just five players against seven. Yet, in the face of adversity, our team demonstrated unwavering resilience, discipline, and teamwork to emerge victorious.

This wasn’t just a match, it was a powerful display of determination, unity, and the true spirit of sportsmanship. Our players showed heart and grit, turning a tough situation into a moment of pride and celebration.
The match was at the instance of the Abuja Charity Marathon 2025, and sponsored by the Tonto-Dike Foundation.
Nigeria’s celebrity Tonto Dike disclosed that the victory of the NUJ demonstrates that even though journalists were known to be good with their pens, they were also good with their legs as well.
“You won because I did not play’, Tonto-Dike said.
The Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council Comrade Grace Ike praised the team for a job well done noting that it was the beginning of greater things to come for journalists in the F.C.T.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Tonto Dike for organizing this meaningful event that beautifully blends charity, fitness, and community spirit.
More than just a game, it was an opportunity to engage, connect, and witness firsthand the compassion and strength of your remarkable personality.
