Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has dismissed all political aides in a sweeping move aimed at boosting efficiency and service delivery across the state.

The announcement was made via a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, in Akure.

The statement confirmed that the sack affects all Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants to the Governor. Adeniyan noted, “In the ongoing drive to enhance efficiency and deepen service delivery, Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has relieved all political aides of their duties with immediate effect. The governor thanked them for their contributions and wished them well in their future endeavours.”

As part of the restructuring, about 1,000 new aides, drawn from the state’s 203 wards across 18 local government areas, will be appointed in due course to strengthen coordination and inject fresh capacity into the administration.

Resignations Ahead of APC Primaries

In a related development, several appointees and political office holders under the Aiyedatiwa administration have tendered resignations in line with INEC guidelines ahead of the APC primaries for the 2027 general elections.

Those who resigned include:

Hon. Gbenga Omole, Special Adviser on Transport

Hon. Fadairo Oluwafemi, Senior Special Assistant on Community Engagement (Central)

Dr. Olusegun Victor Ategbole, Chairman, Ondo State Hospital Management Board

Engr. Razaq Obe, Director General, Performance and Project Implementation Monitoring Unit (PPIMU)

Hon. Adeola Fynch, Secretary, Akure South Local Government

Sources revealed that Omole, Fadairo, Ategbole, and Obe are positioning to contest federal legislative seats in Ifedore/Idanre, Akoko Southeast/Southwest, and Akure South/North constituencies, while Omole also seeks a return to the State House of Assembly for Akoko Southwest constituency. Fynch aims to contest the Akure South constituency 1 State House of Assembly seat on the APC platform.

The governor’s decisive action underscores a strategic recalibration ahead of the 2027 elections, signaling both administrative restructuring and political repositioning within Ondo State.
