Paystack co-founder Ezra Olubi alleges unfair dismissal after suspension
Ezra Olubi, co-founder and former CTO of fintech firm Paystack, has publicly claimed that his termination by the company was premature and violated due process.
Olubi confirmed in a blog post that he was officially dismissed on 22 November 2025, before the conclusion of an internal investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct.
He said he was fired without being granted a hearing or given a chance to respond to the allegations ,a move he described as a clear breach of Paystack’s own policies and the conditions of his earlier suspension.
Olubi maintained that the accusations stem from resurfaced tweets from 2009–2013, which he characterized as inappropriate humour from a “different phase” of his life and insisted do not represent who he is today.
He stated that he cooperated fully with Paystack’s board during the investigation, and that his legal team is now reviewing whether his termination complied with company policies.
Paystack had initially suspended Olubi on 14 November 2025, citing serious allegations and launching a formal probe. The company said it would refrain from further comment until its review process is complete.
Observers say the dispute may have broader implications for governance and accountability in Nigeria’s fast growing tech sector.
