5 PDP Federal Lawmakers formally defect to APC in Osun
Five members of the National Assembly elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State.
The defectors include Senators Francis Fadahunsi (Osun East) and Olubiyi Fadeyi (Osun Central), as well as House of Representatives members Omirin Olusanya (Ijesa South Federal Constituency), Wole Oke (Ijesa North Federal Constituency), and Taofeek Ajilesoro (Ife Central Federal Constituency).
They were formally received by party leaders, members and supporters in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, in what observers described as a major political boost for the APC ahead of upcoming elections.
Oyetola: No Strangers in APC
The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, said the APC remains an inclusive platform, declaring that “there are no strangers” in the party.
“We are gathered not just to receive our new members, but to affirm a shared conviction that the sure path to prosperity, stability, and visionary leadership lies in the All Progressives Congress,” Oyetola said.
“In the APC, there are no strangers — we are one united family. Your arrival strengthens our resolve to reclaim Osun and restore dignity to governance.”
He also commended President Bola Tinubu, stating that his administration had laid a solid foundation for Nigeria’s rebirth.
“That is why we proudly and confidently endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027 — to consolidate these gains and secure lasting prosperity,” Oyetola added.
Focus on 2026 Governorship Poll
Oyetola urged party faithful to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the August 8, 2026 governorship election in the state.
“Our mission is clear: reclaim Osun and return it to serious, people-focused governance,” he said, promising improved infrastructure, functional schools and hospitals, youth empowerment and transparent governance if the party regains control.

The Osun APC Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, described the defections as a significant reinforcement that would enhance the party’s chances in both the governorship poll and the 2027 presidential election.
He assured the new entrants of equal access to political opportunities, in line with the APC’s tradition of inclusiveness.
Similarly, the APC governorship candidate in the state, Bola Oyebamiji, called for unity among party members ahead of the 2026 and 2027 elections.
The development marks a fresh shift in Osun’s political landscape, with analysts suggesting that the defection of two senators and three representatives could significantly alter the balance of power in the state.
