Akwa Ibom Govt revokes Land allocations, sets revalidation deadline
The Akwa Ibom State Government has revoked all land allocations, including government-acquired lands, purchased between May 29, 2023, and August 25, 2025.
This was made known in a statement signed by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Uko Essien Udom, SAN, who explained that the move is part of efforts to restructure the state’s land allocation process through the Akwa-GIS digital platform, the state’s Geographic Information Management System, which requires all landowners to revalidate their allocations.
According to the directive, there will be a one-month suspension on new land allocations and transactions, during which the Directorate of Land will be shut down.
A two-month revalidation exercise will follow, to be carried out by the GIS office under the Ministry of Lands and Town Planning.
The statement further warned that any allocation or interest not revalidated within the stipulated period will automatically become invalid.
