CDS hails Finnish Court over conviction of pro-Biafra agitator Simon Ekpa

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has applauded the conviction of pro-Biafra agitator Simon Ekpa by a Finnish court, stressing that sponsors of terrorism will face justice no matter where they are.
The Päijät-Häme District Court in Lahti, Finland, sentenced Ekpa to six years in prison for terrorism offences linked to his activities aimed at reviving the defunct Biafra state, which briefly existed in the late 1960s.
In a statement by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, General Musa described the ruling as a significant milestone in the global fight against terrorism and violent extremism. He said the judgment sends a strong message that those inciting violence and funding terrorism against Nigeria would not find refuge anywhere.
Musa commended Nigerian security agencies, intelligence operatives, law enforcement officers, and diplomats for providing critical evidence that aided Ekpa’s conviction, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in combating transnational threats.
The CDS further assured that the Nigerian Armed Forces would continue collaborating with global partners to dismantle terrorist networks while urging Nigerians to remain vigilant and support security efforts against insurgency and separatist violence.
