FG declares October 1 Public Holiday for Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary
The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025, a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government. In a statement signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Minister congratulated Nigerians at home and abroad on the historic occasion.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged citizens to uphold the spirit of patriotism, unity, and resilience that has sustained the country since independence in 1960. He also encouraged Nigerians to remain committed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on national rebirth, economic transformation, and collective prosperity.
The Minister expressed optimism that with the support and cooperation of all citizens, Nigeria would continue to grow stronger in peace, progress, and development.
He wished all Nigerians a happy and memorable Independence Day celebration.
