Sen. Seriake Dickson dumps PDP, joins newly registered NDC
Senator Seriake Dickson, representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the newly registered Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
The former Governor of Bayelsa State announced his resignation from the PDP and subsequent move to the NDC during a media briefing in Abuja on Thursday.
Dickson attributed his defection to what he described as irreconcilable differences within the PDP, saying the party’s internal crisis had weakened its structure and shrunk its once formidable umbrella to the point where it could no longer accommodate many loyal members, including himself.
He lamented that the PDP had lost its voice on critical national issues, noting that persistent leadership tussles had crippled the party and diminished its effectiveness as a credible opposition platform.
The senator expressed confidence in the NDC, which was recently registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing it as the opposition vehicle capable of offering Nigerians a viable alternative.
He called on Nigerians to identify with and register under the new party, saying it represents a fresh opportunity to reposition the country’s political landscape for better governance.
