BREAKING: APC shifts 2027 primaries, fixes new dates for presidential, governorship elections
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has adjusted its timetable for the 2027 general elections, shifting its presidential primary election from May 15–16 to May 23, 2026, while governorship primaries will now hold on May 21, 2026.
The party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Duro Meseko, announced the changes after the 186th National Working Committee meeting in Abuja on Thursday, noting that the revision also affects key pre-primary activities, including screening and appeals.
Meseko said the updated schedule complies with the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Electoral Act 2026, and the Independent National Electoral Commission’s timetable for the 2027 elections.
According to him, the sale of nomination forms will run from April 25 to May 2, 2026, while submission of completed forms will close on May 4, 2026.
He added that screening of aspirants for all elective positions, including the presidency, will take place between May 6 and May 9, with results to be published on May 11, 2026.
Appeals arising from the screening exercise will be heard between May 12 and May 13, 2026, ahead of the party’s revised primaries schedule.
