President Bola Tinubu has appointed Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs following the resignation of Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, who stepped down to participate in preparations for the 2027 elections.

Odumegwu-Ojukwu previously served as Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is expected to oversee Nigeria’s external relations at a time of increased focus on economic diplomacy and international partnerships.

In the same development, the President has nominated Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, subject to Senate confirmation.

Until his nomination, Enikanolaiye, from Kogi State, served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations.

A seasoned diplomat with over three decades of experience, he previously served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and held diplomatic postings in Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London, and New Delhi.

The presidency said the appointments are part of broader efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s foreign policy framework for improved efficiency, strategic engagement, and stronger global partnerships.

President Tinubu congratulated both appointees and urged them to prioritise national interest, advance economic diplomacy, promote regional stability, and ensure the welfare of Nigerians abroad.
