NSCC, Nigeria Correctional service sign MoU to cater for Inmates over sixty years old

Director General of National Senior Citizens Centre, Dr. Emem Omokaro says a Technical Working Group is underway between the National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC) and the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) to cater for prisoners over sixty years of age
This was reached when the Director General, National Senior Citizens Centre, Dr Emem Omokaro paid a courtesy visit to the Acting Controller General of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche at the Service Headquarters in Abuja.
The Technical Working Group is expected to structure and initiate impactful programmes that will address the specific needs of inmates at the Nigeria Correctional facilities who are 60 years and above.
DG NSCC informed the Controller General of NSCC’s mandate which covers Seniors Citizens in Nigeria’s Correctional facilities and NSCC’s concern about the state of affairs of 60 years and above inmates in all its facilities.
She assured that NSCC would work with the Nigeria Correctional Service for regular visits and programmes through its Medical Outreaches, Walk for Life Initiative for health checks and remediation and Continuing Engagement Initiative for vocational engagements of inmates who are 60 years and above.
Acting Controller General of Nigeria Correctional Service, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche expressed the willingness of the Service to work with NSCC to improve the quality of life and wellbeing of Older Persons (60 years and above) in its facilities nationwide.
