Muktar Aliyu Betara, a Nigerian accountant and lawmaker, has been making significant impacts in his constituency and beyond, often without seeking the spotlight. Born on November 22, 1966, in Biu, Borno State, Betara has served as a member of the House of Representatives since 2007, representing the Biu/Bayo/Shani and Kwaya Kusar Federal Constituency.

Philanthropy and Leadership:

Betara’s philanthropic efforts are extensive. He has funded medical interventions, including kidney transplants, and provided scholarships to over 3,000 students. His constituency has benefited from infrastructure projects such as health centers, ambulances, and solar-powered street lights. Despite his influence in the National Assembly, Betara remains humble and dedicated to improving lives.
Career and Personal Life

Before politics, Betara worked as an accountant with the Presidency and later at NITEL. He holds an HND in Accounting and Business Administration from Ramat Polytechnic. Married with four children, Betara is known for his bipartisan approach and strong interest in national security and youth empowerment

Muktar Aliyu Betara’s support for young entrepreneurs has significantly impacted his constituency by fostering economic growth and reducing poverty. He has initiated various empowerment programs, distributing over 10,000 grinding machines and more than 15,000 sewing machines to help young entrepreneurs start businesses. Additionally, Betara has provided motorcycles and other equipment to support young entrepreneurs as well as scholarships

These initiatives have not only created jobs but also contributed to the socio-economic development of the region

Muktar Aliyu Betara has shown significant support for women’s empowerment in his constituency. He has championed vocational training programs and provided micro-loans to help women become economically independent. Additionally, Betara has been involved in advocacy efforts to further support women’s causes.

His initiatives have contributed to improving the socio-economic status of women in his constituency, aligning with his broader commitment to fostering economic self-reliance among vulnerable groups.

As the Chairman of the House Committee on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Muktar Aliyu Betara has played a pivotal role in enhancing infrastructure in Abuja. His leadership has been instrumental in improving budgetary allocations for capital projects, leading to significant developments in the city.

Betara has overseen the approval of supplementary budgets for the FCT Administration, demonstrating his commitment to the city’s growth. He has also engaged with the minister to address the welfare and security needs of residents and natives, showcasing his dedication to the well-being of the community
