Federal High Court Judges to commence Easter Vacation April 16

Judges of the Federal High Court of Nigeria will begin their annual Easter vacation on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, and will return to their duties on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.
This was confirmed in a circular signed by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, and announced in a press statement issued by Dr. Catherine Oby Christopher, the Court’s Director of Information.
According to the statement, the vacation is in line with Order 46, Rule 4 (C) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019 (as amended).
However, during the holiday, the court will not be completely closed. Three main judicial divisions—Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt—will stay open to handle emergency cases only.
Only urgent matters such as:
Enforcement of fundamental human rights
Arrest or release of vessels
Issues of national importance
will be considered during this period.
The following judges have been appointed to serve during the vacation:
Abuja Division: Justices Emeka Nwite and Musa Sulaiman Liman
Lagos Division: Justices Akintayo Aluko and Isaac I. Dipeolu
Port Harcourt Division: Justices Phoebe M. Ayua and Adamu T. Mohammed
The statement also advised all vacation judges and division heads to contact the Chief Judge for any urgent cases that may require special attention.
Justice Tsoho concluded the statement by wishing all judges a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration.
