Gunmen storm Prayer Ground in Kogi, abduct worshippers
Gunmen have reportedly attacked a prayer session at a remote mountain in the Egbola area, along Agbaja Road in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State, abducting an unknown number of worshippers during a night vigil.
The incident, which occurred on Friday night, caused panic as the assailants stormed the site where the prayer session was taking place, shooting sporadically to scare the crowd before forcefully taking several people into the bush.
One of the victims, a woman identified as Mary Adams Gure, was rescued by operatives of the Kogi State Vigilante Service. According to sources, the vigilante team received a tip-off about the incident and quickly mobilized to the scene, engaging the gunmen in a gun duel.
While the exact number of abducted persons is yet to be confirmed, residents of the area have expressed shock over the attack, calling on the state government and security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the remaining victims and secure the area.
