Bayelsa’s ₦95bn modern stadium to be ready in 20 Months, says Igali
The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Sports, Daniel Igali, has assured that Nigeria’s most modern sports stadium, currently under construction in the state, will be completed within 20 months.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 22nd National Sports Festival in Ogun State, Mr Igali revealed that upon completion, Bayelsa would formally submit a bid to host the 2028 edition of the festival.
He credited the ambitious project to the vision and dedication of the former Commissioner for Sports and current Governor, Senator Douye Diri, describing the initiative as a reflection of Bayelsa’s commitment to establishing itself as a leading force in Nigerian sports.
The international stadium project, which commenced in February, is designed as a 25,000-seater facility with provisions for future expansion. Valued at ₦95 billion, it is set to become the most advanced stadium in Nigeria upon completion.
