Okpebholo, Elumelu, Sanusi, others to be honoured at 2025 Silent Heroes Awards in Abuja
The seventh edition of the prestigious Silent Heroes Awards is set to hold on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the Wells Carlton Hotel, Asokoro, Abuja.
Among the notable figures to be honoured are Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and the Chairman of Heirs Holdings, Tony Elumelu.
This year’s event will also witness the official unveiling of Volume 3 of Nigeria’s Silent Heroes, a publication compiled by award-winning journalist and respected biographer, Odita Sunday. The compendium highlights the remarkable yet quiet achievements of individuals making meaningful contributions to Nigeria’s development.
A total of forty distinguished Nigerians from different sectors will be recognised for their service and impact in politics, public service, business, security, media, and civil society. Some of the award recipients include the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II; Hamid Joda, MD/CEO of TAJ Bank; Hon. Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives; Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed; Minister of Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle; philanthropist Prince Arthur Eze; Dr. Daniel Olukoya of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry; and Minister for Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Jeferrey Nnaji.
Also listed are Niger Delta Development Minister, Engr. Abubakar Momoh; NIMC DG, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote; FCT Mandate Secretary for Health and Environment, Dr. Adedolap Fasawe; Director of the FCT Education Resource Centre, Dr. Neemat Daud Abdulrahim; and NEMA DG, Hajiya Zubaida Umar.
Established in 2018, the Silent Heroes Awards honours selfless Nigerians whose everyday work often goes unnoticed but continues to shape communities and uplift the nation. Project coordinator, Mrs. Ozioma Sonia Odita-Sunday, explained that the awards celebrate those who serve not for applause, but out of genuine patriotism and duty.
The ceremony, which will commence at 5 p.m., will also feature the recognition of fourteen additional Nigerians who have shown steadfast dedication and are creating lasting impacts within their sectors.
