Sowore leads protest at Force HQ, seek better pay, pensions for Nigerian Police

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore on Monday led a peaceful protest to the Force Headquarters and the National Assembly, demanding improved welfare and pension conditions for Nigerian police personnel.

Chanting slogans such as “Pay police a living wage and proper pensions,” the protesters carried placards bearing messages like “Decent Salaries Now,” “End Police Slavery,” “Pensions for Police Officers,” and “Dignity for Those in Uniform,” under the campaign title #PoliceProtest.

Although they were not granted access into the Force Headquarters, the demonstrators received police escorts as they marched to the National Assembly to press home their demands for both serving and retired officers.
