Abuja Charity Marathon to ameliorate plight of Nigerians – Dr Odey

…unveils 28 ambassadors, as 500 runners, over 1,000 attendees expected
The Convener, Abuja Charity Marathon, Dr Chris Odey, who is also President/CEO of Nigeria’s Goodwill Ambassadors Awards, weekend, disclosed that the Marathon is to ameliorate the plight of Nigerians.
Odey made the statement as 28 ambassadors of the Abuja Charity Marathon including actors, musicians and comedians were unveiled and decorated as ambassadors in Abuja.
He also described the event as more than just a race but a movement, which the Abuja Charity Marathon is scheduled for April 19, 2025 in Abuja, and the 28 ambassadors are going to participate as well.
He said: “It is with great excitement and gratitude that I stand before you today as we unveil and celebrate the Abuja Charity Marathon Ambassadors.
“This event is more than just a race, it is a movement, a call to action, and a powerful expression of our shared commitment to humanity.
“The Abuja Charity Marathon, scheduled for April 19, 2025, is not just about fitness or competition; it is about solidarity, philanthropy, and impact.
“It is about bringing together NGOs, Corporate bodies, philanthropists, professional athletes, and everyday citizens to run for a cause to uplift the less privileged and foster a spirit of unity within our community.
Meanwhile he recognized some distinguished personalities including His Royal Majesty, lgwe Samuel Asadu Ogadagidi , and Her Royal Majesty Queen Mother Dr. Chetachi Ecton Nwoga, for their unwavering support for humanity.
“This year’s marathon will feature over 500 runners and more than 1,000 attendees, with activities beyond the race, including entertainment, exhibitions, networking, and community engagement.
“Additionally, we have introduced a Mixed-Gender Novelty Football Match between the Abuja Charity Marathon Ambassadors and NUJ Abuja Chapter members, symbolizing the unity and teamwork needed to drive social change”, he said.

Meanwhile, in a goodwill message, the Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ Federal Capital Territory, FCT Chapter, Comrade Grace Ike, called on celebrities to engage in giving back to the society as most of Nigerians are down economically, and if they can roll out programmes and projects basically to give succour to suffering Nigerians instead of waiting till emergencies happen.
Ike also commended the Convener, Abuja Charity Marathon, Dr Chris Odey for the initiative to change the narrative with the event and for unveiling the ambassadors of impeccable character that have made their marks nationally and internationally.
In attendance also include Mr Sydney Jack, Governor of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) amongst others.

His Royal Majesty, Igwe Samuel Asadu Ogadagidi, Chairman Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, decorated as Grand Patron of Abuja Charity Marathon.
