AFCON 2025: FG urges Super Eagles to play with pride against Morocco
The Federal Government has expressed strong support for the Super Eagles ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final clash against Morocco, assuring the team that the entire nation stands firmly behind them.
In a message to the players, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, fnipr, commended the Super Eagles for their impressive run in the tournament, describing their performances as inspiring and reflective of the discipline, courage and belief that have long defined Nigerian football.
The minister noted that the team’s journey to the semi-finals was a reminder of why the Super Eagles remain one of Africa’s most respected sides, pointing to their rich history of AFCON triumphs and memorable victories against tough opponents.
“You have been here before and you know what it takes to win at this level. Those past victories were not by chance; they were built on teamwork, confidence and a fighting spirit, which you have once again displayed in this tournament,” he said.
Idris urged the players to step onto the pitch with confidence, unity and determination, stressing that they carry the hopes and prayers of millions of Nigerians.
“As you take the field, remember that you are not alone. Play with the confidence of champions, the unity of brothers and the hunger to succeed. Stay focused, trust one another and give your best from the first whistle to the final moment,” the statement read.
The minister encouraged the team to fight for every ball, seize every opportunity and believe in their collective strength, expressing confidence in their ability to advance further in the competition.
“Tonight, go out there and write another proud chapter in Nigeria’s football history. Play with heart. Play with pride. Play for Nigeria,” he added.
The Federal Government wished the Super Eagles success and assured them of the nation’s continued support.
God bless the Super Eagles.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
