Atalanta names Raffaele Palladino as new head coach
Italian Serie A side Atalanta have officially named Raffaele Palladino as their new head coach on a contract running until June 2027, following the dismissal of Ivan Juric after a poor start to the season.
The appointment, confirmed by the club on Tuesday, comes less than a day after Juric was relieved of his duties. The decision followed a disappointing 3-0 home defeat to newly-promoted Sassuolo, which left club executives frustrated just 11 games into the 2025/26 Serie A campaign.
Palladino, 41, takes charge at a crucial stage for La Dea. The former Fiorentina coach, known for his progressive attacking football and focus on nurturing young players, earned praise across Italy despite leaving Florence amid internal disagreements.
Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi expressed confidence in Palladino’s leadership, noting that his “vision, energy, and long-term commitment” align with the club’s ambitions.
Palladino’s immediate task will be to stabilise Atalanta’s domestic performance while balancing their European commitments. His first training session is expected later this week as preparations begin for the team’s upcoming league fixture.
