Bauchi Govt approves monthly stipends for religious leaders
The Bauchi State Government has approved monthly stipends for religious leaders in the state, following funds recovered from ghost workers on the state payroll.
The announcement was made by Mohammed Sani Umar, the State Head of Civil Service, and Yahuza Haruna, the Governor’s Chief Economic Adviser, during a briefing with government correspondents in Bauchi after a closed-door session with the governor.
Umar said the Economic Council had approved allowances for imams of JUMA’AT mosques and pastors across various churches, irrespective of sects or denominations.
“The issues of allowances for imams and pastors are irrespective of sects and denominations. The last step that we are going to take is to get the economic and financial implications for the implementations,” he said.
He also disclosed that the council discussed the commencement of salaries for newly created emirs and district heads in the state, assuring that the government has made adequate cash flow arrangements to sustain their payment.
