FCT Stakeholders hail Wike’s impact, advocate dialogue ahead of elections
In a resounding show of support, the FCT Stakeholders Assembly (FSA)—a coalition of original inhabitants, residents, professionals, and trade organisations—has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike, for his outstanding contributions to infrastructural development in Abuja.
In a statement issued to journalists and signed by the President of the Assembly, Dr Aliyu Daniel Baka Kwali, the group lauded Wike’s proactive leadership and commitment to transforming the capital city.
According to Dr Aliyu, since assuming office, Wike has spearheaded a series of ambitious projects aimed at enhancing transportation, healthcare, and public utilities. “Key developmental projects now span the length and breadth of Abuja, including the expansion of road networks and the construction of new public schools—all of which have significantly improved residents’ living standards.”
He further praised Wike’s hands-on approach to governance: “Under Barr. Wike’s leadership, we have witnessed tangible progress. The completion of critical roadways has eased traffic congestion, while the beautification of Abuja has enhanced its status as a modern capital. These efforts are not just for today but for the future of our territory.”
The Assembly also acknowledged Wike’s commitment to engaging with local communities, ensuring that the voices of FCT natives are heard and prioritised in infrastructure planning. Additionally, his focus on healthcare development—which has led to the renovation and expansion of several primary healthcare centres—has earned praise from health advocates who believe these upgrades will improve access to essential medical services in underserved areas.
Call for Presidential Roundtable on Elections
Beyond infrastructure, the Assembly has urged Wike to facilitate a roundtable discussion with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address pressing concerns ahead of the 2026 Area Council Elections and the 2027 General Election in the FCT.
“We would like our Minister to arrange a meeting between President Tinubu and the Assembly to formally express our gratitude for appointing ‘Mr Project’ as FCT Minister, alongside one of our own as Minister of Special Duties,” Dr Aliyu stated. “With the upcoming elections on the horizon, it is crucial to discuss key concerns and strategies to ensure electoral success.”
With Wike’s infrastructural strides gaining widespread recognition, the FCT Stakeholders Assembly believes that constructive engagement with the presidency will further strengthen Abuja’s governance and democratic process.
