NAWOJ FCT seeks partnership with NTA Abuja to boost women’s voices in media
The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), FCT Chapter, has called for a partnership with NTA Channel 5 Abuja to help amplify women’s voices in the media. This initiative is part of preparations for International Women’s Day and highlights the importance of grassroots representation in media.
During the visit, Comrade Bassey Ita Ikpang, Chairperson of NAWOJ FCT and a member of the NTA family, thanked the management of NTA Channel 5 for their ongoing support since she became chairperson. She recognised the station’s role in increasing the visibility of NAWOJ FCT’s activities.
She also emphasised the association’s dedication to advocating for women’s rights and ensuring that issues affecting women stay in the public spotlight.
“NTA has been a strong pillar in promoting credible journalism, and as women journalists, we recognize the power of collaboration in amplifying our voices, especially for those at the grassroots,” Ikpang said.
Mr. Paul Atte, General Manager of NTA Channel 5, welcomed the delegation and reiterated the station’s support for NAWOJ’s mission. He recognised the vital role women play in shaping families, communities, and the nation.
“This collaboration is not just timely; it is essential. Women are the backbone of society, and giving them a stronger platform aligns with our vision of balanced and inclusive media representation,” Atte said.
The discussions during the visit set the stage for future collaborations, focusing on key issues and promoting unity within the media industry.
As NAWOJ prepares to celebrate and empower women ahead of International Women’s Day, this partnership with NTA Abuja promises to bring about powerful storytelling and media advocacy.
