Ramadan, Lent: NUJ FCT Chairman Calls for Unity and National Renewal
The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, has called on Christians and Muslims to use the sacred seasons of Lent and Ramadan to promote unity, sacrifice and national renewal.
In a goodwill message to mark the commencement of the fasting periods, Comrade Ike extended warm greetings to the faithful in the Federal Capital Territory and across Nigeria.
She described Lent and Ramadan as solemn periods of fasting, prayer and reflection that embody the enduring values of discipline, compassion, sacrifice and love for humanity.
According to her, the twin spiritual seasons present a unique opportunity for Nigerians to draw closer to God, strengthen their moral resolve and recommit themselves to peaceful coexistence and national development.
“At a time when our nation yearns for unity, stability and progress, this holy season should inspire fervent prayers for Nigeria, for our leaders and for sustained peace and security in the Federal Capital Territory and beyond,” she said.
The NUJ FCT Chairman reaffirmed the commitment of journalists to promoting truth, fairness and responsible reportage that fosters harmony and mutual understanding among the diverse peoples of the country.
She urged Nigerians to embrace tolerance and act as ambassadors of peace throughout the fasting period.
Comrade Ike wished Muslim and Christian faithful a spiritually fulfilling Ramadan and Lenten season, expressing hope that the prayers and sacrifices offered during the period would usher in renewed hope and greater prosperity for the nation.
