Reps begins annual recess, to resume September 23
The House of Representatives has commenced its annual recess, adjourning all legislative activities until September 23.
The motion for the two-month break was moved, seconded, and unanimously approved during plenary. The announcement was made by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen during the closing session held on Wednesday, July 23, at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.
This break is part of the National Assembly’s regular legislative calendar, designed to allow lawmakers to focus on constituency duties, perform oversight functions, and attend to personal matters.
Speaker Abbas urged lawmakers to use the recess to engage with their constituents, address pressing local issues, and oversee ongoing federal projects within their constituencies.
The adjournment comes after a busy legislative session.
