Troops of Sector 3, Joint Task Force North East ‘Operation Hadin Kai’, have successfully repelled an early morning attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists on a military base in Doron Baga, Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.

The latest incident occurred less than 24 hours after terrorists reportedly launched multiple attacks on military formations in the region.

Security sources said the insurgents stormed the military base at about 2:12 a.m. on Tuesday, triggering a fierce gun battle between the attackers and troops.

According to a credible military source, the exchange of gunfire lasted for about 55 minutes as troops maintained tactical superiority throughout the engagement.

“Troops stood their ground and maintained tactical dominance during the encounter,” the source said.

Several terrorists were reportedly neutralised during the operation, while assorted arms and ammunition were recovered by the troops.

The source also confirmed that there were no casualties or equipment losses on the side of the military.

Security sources, however, warned of the possibility of follow-up attacks and urged soldiers and other security operatives in the area to remain vigilant and maintain heightened security measures.

Troops’ morale was said to remain high, with follow-up operations and patrols ongoing to prevent any resurgence of terrorist activities in the area.
