BREAKING: 47 killed as fresh attack rocks Plateau community
No fewer than 47 people have been confirmed dead following a brutal attack on Zike and Kimakpa communities in the Kwall District of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State on Sunday night.
The fresh assault comes just over a week after a similar attack in Bokkos Local Government Area, which claimed 52 lives and led to the destruction of properties worth millions of naira.
The National Secretary of the Irigwe Development Association, Danjuma Dickson Auta, confirmed the tragic incident in Jos on Monday. According to Auta, the coordinated attacks began around 8:00 pm and left several others seriously injured.
As of the time of filing this report, the Plateau State Police Command has not issued any official statement regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, the Plateau State Government has continued to raise concerns over the disturbing trend of communities being forcefully occupied by armed groups. This development, according to state officials, is further fueling unrest and instability in the region.
The state has been plagued by repeated cycles of violence, often described as farmer-herder clashes, but the recent scale and coordination of the attacks point to a much deeper crisis.
As residents mourn their dead and seek refuge, the call for decisive action from security agencies and the federal government is growing louder.
