Kolade Otunla of Team Ogun delivered a record-breaking performance at the 22nd National Sports Festival, Gateway Games 2024, claiming gold in the men’s 100m backstroke.
Otunla finished the race in 1:02.41 seconds, shattering the previous national and festival record of 1:04.61 set in 2018 by Rivers State’s Abara Kuma Dilo.
His victory follows teammate Omolola Tobiloba’s earlier triumph in the women’s 800m freestyle, marking a strong showing for Ogun State in the swimming events.
