Bomb explosion kills 5, injures 10 others in Kano

At least five people have been confirmed dead following a bomb explosion that rocked Kano State on Saturday, leaving ten others injured.
The incident, which involved an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) personnel in a military-grade mortar vehicle, has thrown residents of the state into panic.
Confirming the development, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Ibrahim, said he received a distress call about the explosion and upon arriving at the scene, found it was likely an EOD incident involving a military mortar bomb vehicle.
According to him, “I received a call about the incident that had happened. When I arrived, I found that it was a suspected explosion – possibly an EOD on a military mortar bomb vehicle that exploded. Fifteen people were affected and rushed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital. I rushed to the place and found out that five died and 10 are receiving treatment.”
The Commissioner explained that initial information indicated the vehicle came from Yobe State and was transporting explosive materials, though it remains uncertain whether it was operated by military personnel or contractors.
As of the time of this report, the exact cause of the explosion was yet to be officially determined, but the development has sparked serious concern and anxiety among residents in the area. An investigation is currently underway to unravel the full details of the incident.
