Emir Sanusi begins Law degree classes at Northwest University, Kano (Photos)

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has formally resumed academic activities at Northwest University, Kano, after enrolling as a 200-level law student.

The monarch was sighted attending lectures alongside other undergraduates on Tuesday, clad in a black flowing gown and white turban, drawing quiet admiration from students on campus.

His return to the classroom follows the university’s decision, taken weeks earlier, to grant him special admission into its Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme in Common and Sharia Law.

University authorities said the offer was made in recognition of the Emir’s extensive background in governance, economics and public service, describing the admission as consistent with the institution’s academic regulations.

Northwest University, established in 2012, is one of the two tertiary institutions owned by the Kano State Government.
