IGP Egbetokun orders immediate Tactical Deployment to Plateau over renewed killings
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has directed the urgent deployment of tactical police forces to Plateau State following a wave of violent attacks and killings in Bokkos and surrounding communities.
According to a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the deployment is part of a special intervention aimed at restoring peace and preventing further loss of lives in the troubled areas. The IGP instructed DIG Kwazhi Dali Yakubu, who is in charge of operations, to lead the mission, supported by reinforcements such as drones, Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), helicopters, and specialized police units.
The attacks, which began on March 28, 2025, have reportedly claimed several lives and left many injured. The police say they are launching special operations to tackle the violence and are collaborating with local stakeholders to track down those responsible.
DIG Kwazhi arrived in Plateau State on April 8, 2025, and paid a courtesy visit to Governor Caleb Mutfwang as part of his engagement with state authorities.
Residents of affected communities are urged to cooperate fully with the police and share any useful information that could aid in restoring peace and security in the region.
