INEC publishes Personal Details of Anambra 2025 Governorship Candidates
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially published the personal details of candidates vying for the governorship position in the upcoming 2025 Anambra State election.
This announcement follows the conclusion of party primaries and the subsequent submission of nomination forms by sixteen political parties ahead of the deadline on 12 May.
In a statement signed by Sam Olumekun, the National Commissioner and Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, the commission confirmed that the candidates’ details were uploaded via its dedicated nomination portal, which automatically closed at 6:00 pm on Monday, 12 May 2025.
In accordance with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2022, INEC has displayed the personal particulars, academic qualifications, and other relevant documents of all candidates and their running mates at its state headquarters and in its 21 local government offices throughout Anambra State.
The commission has urged members of the public to carefully review the displayed documents. It also reminded aspirants who participated in the primaries that they have the right to contest any false information in a Federal High Court, as provided under Section 29(5) of the Electoral Act.
INEC further stated that the final list of candidates for the governorship election would be published on 9 June 2025, at least 150 days before the scheduled election date of 8 November 2025, in line with Section 32(1) of the Electoral Act.
The commission encouraged Nigerians to actively participate in the verification process to ensure transparency and fairness in the lead-up to the pivotal election.
