Kano Court sentences Man to death for killing Stepmother, Sister
A High Court sitting in Kano State has sentenced a 22-year-old man, Sagiru Rijiyar-Zaki, to death by hanging after finding him guilty of the brutal murder of his stepmother and sister.
The tragic incident happened in Kutama village, Gwarzo Local Government Area of the state.
The court established that Sagiru fatally stabbed his stepmother, Rabi’atu Sagir, before strangling his sister, Munawara, with a scarf. Delivering the judgment, Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu ruled that the prosecution had presented enough evidence to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt.
Earlier, the prosecuting counsel, Barrister Lamido Abba-Sorondinki, told the court that the convict committed the offence on January 7, 2023, at Rijiyar Zaki Quarters in Kano.
He also presented two witnesses and tendered exhibits to support the case, which eventually led to the court’s decision.
