Tinubu back in Nigeria after Abu Dhabi summit
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Nigeria following his participation in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026), where Nigeria recorded key economic and investment milestones.
During the summit, Nigeria entered into a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a move aimed at strengthening economic ties between both countries.
The agreement is expected to deepen bilateral trade and investment, promote technology transfer, and expand cooperation across strategic sectors such as energy, infrastructure, agriculture, mining, and renewable energy.
Speaking at the event, President Tinubu announced that Nigeria and the UAE will jointly host an INVESTOPIA forum in Lagos in February. The initiative, according to him, is designed to attract global investors and position Nigeria as a major investment destination in Africa.
The President also disclosed Nigeria’s plan to mobilise up to 30 billion dollars annually in climate and green industrial financing as part of ongoing efforts to accelerate energy transition reforms and expand access to electricity across the country.
The participation of the President and members of his cabinet at the global sustainability summit underscores Nigeria’s push to secure international partnerships that support economic growth, climate action, and sustainable development.
