Fire razes store inside Abuja mall
A midnight fire has destroyed a section of the popular Jabi Lake Mall in Abuja, causing panic among residents and business owners.
The fire reportedly started around 3:00 a.m. on Thursday inside one of the stores in the mall. Security personnel on duty quickly alerted firefighters, who arrived at the scene to battle the flames.
Eyewitnesses said the fire spread rapidly before it was brought under control. Thankfully, no lives were lost, but goods worth millions of naira were believed to have been destroyed.
Officials from the Federal Fire Service confirmed the incident and said an investigation has begun to determine the cause of the fire. Early reports suggest it might have been triggered by an electrical fault, though this has not been confirmed.
By morning, thick smoke could still be seen rising from parts of the building, while shop owners gathered around in shock, assessing the damage.
Authorities have cordoned off the affected area for safety checks, while other sections of the mall remain closed temporarily.
Residents and business owners have called on the management of Jabi Lake Mall to improve fire safety measures to prevent future occurrences.
