Oluremi Tinubu celebrates World Teachers’ Day, calls for action on global Teacher shortage
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has joined the world in marking World Teachers’ Day 2025, urging renewed efforts to tackle the growing global shortage of teachers.
In a statement released on Sunday and made available to Channels Television, Tinubu praised teachers as “true heroes, shaping minds, nurturing dreams, and guiding generations.”
She described educators as pillars of nation-building and the foundation of humanity’s progress, noting that as a lifelong teacher herself, she holds deep admiration and respect for those who dedicate their lives to the profession.
The First Lady emphasized that the theme of this year’s celebration, “Focusing on the Global Teacher Shortage,” highlights the urgent need for governments and societies to empower teachers, invest in their growth, and inspire more people to join the profession.
“The shortage of teachers is a challenge we must confront with urgency by empowering educators, investing in their growth, and inspiring more to join this noble profession,” she said.
Tinubu concluded by saluting teachers across Nigeria and the world for their tireless service, wishing them a happy World Teachers’ Day 2025.
