BREAKING: Tinubu nominates Kingsley Udeh as Minister of Science and Technology
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh (SAN) as the new Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology, replacing Mr. Uche Nnaji, who resigned last month over allegations of certificate forgery.
The appointment was announced in a letter sent to the Senate and read during Tuesday’s plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
In the letter, President Tinubu stated that the nomination was made in accordance with Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), urging the Senate to give the request prompt attention.
“In compliance with the provisions of Section 147(2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), I am pleased to forward to the Senate the nomination of Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu-Udeh for confirmation as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. While I hope that this request will receive the usual expeditious consideration of the Senate, please accept, distinguished Senate President and distinguished Senators, the assurances of my highest regards,” the letter read in part.
After reading the letter, the Senate referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for immediate consideration.
Dr. Udeh, who hails from Enugu State, currently serves as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in the state. His appointment fills the ministerial position left vacant by Nnaji, who resigned on October 7, 2025, amid widespread allegations of university certificate forgery.
