Chelle demands stronger Super Eagles performance ahead of DR Congo playoff final
Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle says his team must step up their performance against the Democratic Republic of Congo if they want to secure victory in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs.
The Super Eagles defeated Gabon 4-1 in their semi-final clash at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex in Rabat on Thursday, with the win sending them into Sunday’s decisive encounter against the Leopards.
DR Congo booked their spot in the final after edging Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions 1-0, setting up a tough contest with Nigeria.
Chelle admitted that although his team did many things right against Gabon, there were still areas that must be fixed before the final.
“We did a lot of good things (vs Gabon), but bad things too. We have to correct some things for the second game but I am confident of my players and what they have done,” he told journalists after the match.
