Trump launches new ‘Peace Board’ at Davos meeting
Former United States President Donald Trump has unveiled a new international initiative known as the Board of Peace at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Trump announced the initiative during a signing ceremony attended by representatives from several countries, describing the Board of Peace as a platform aimed at promoting dialogue, conflict resolution and post-war rebuilding efforts.
According to Trump, the body is expected to work alongside international organisations, including the United Nations, to address global conflicts, with an initial focus on tensions in the Middle East, particularly the Gaza region.
He was joined at the event by senior U.S. officials and advisers, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and adviser Jared Kushner, all of whom expressed support for the initiative.
However, the launch drew mixed reactions, as some long-standing U.S. allies, especially in Europe, were absent from the ceremony, raising questions about the level of international backing for the project.
Details on the structure and operational framework of the Board of Peace have not yet been fully outlined, but Trump said further engagements with participating countries would follow in the coming months.
