Your words define you!

The first sign of maturity or good character is reflected in your speech—the way you communicate with those around you.
Your words define and position you long before people truly get to know you. The manner in which you speak and address others, including your partner or spouse, plays a significant role in determining whether they will genuinely like you and enjoy spending quality time with you—beyond the formalities of your relationship, whatever that may be.
No self-respecting individual wishes to remain in an environment or relationship where those closest to them lack the ability to communicate properly—where interactions are persistently argumentative, condescending, or excessively prideful under the guise of self-esteem, with words laced with bitterness and venom.
Wisdom is not yours alone, so take the time to listen and pay attention to what others—including your partner—are trying to express.
People may not always remember the details of their time spent with you, but they will certainly remember how you made them feel. Train yourself; season your words with grace. Clothe yourself with the garment of humility, for God uplifts the humble but resists the proud.
Make a conscious effort to embrace humility and learn how to communicate effectively with those you interact with regularly, including your partner. This way, they will appreciate you as a person and will always take pleasure in spending quality time with you.
If you are a child of God, then you are royalty—and a defining trait of royals is refined speech. Train yourself to use the right words when engaging with others in your daily life. Failing to do so can close doors—even those that were divinely opened in your favour.
Be mindful of your prolonged thoughts about others, for thoughts become words. Control your tongue. Master it!
Do you feel me?
