PCNG Initiative mourn victims of Karu Bridge tragedy, urges caution

The PCNG Initiative has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident that occurred on the Karu Bridge between Kugbo and Nyanya in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In a press statement issued today, the organisation extended its condolences to the victims, their families, and all those affected by the devastating incident.
According to preliminary reports, the accident involved a bi-fuelled truck and a petrol tanker, with early indications pointing to a possible brake system failure, which may have resulted in the explosion of the petrol storage tank.
However, the PCNG Initiative has urged the public to refrain from speculation and await the findings of a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident.
Reaffirming its commitment to promoting the safe and sustainable use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a cleaner energy alternative, the organisation pledged to continue collaborating with key stakeholders, including the FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Federal Fire Service, and other relevant authorities. The PCNG Initiative stressed the importance of upholding safety standards to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
The organisation also commended the swift response of emergency responders, including FEMA, the Nigeria Police Force, and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), who are actively working at the scene to rescue victims and manage the situation.
As investigations into the tragic incident continue, the PCNG Initiative has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the highest safety measures in the adoption of CNG technology across Nigeria.
