Easter: NUJ FCT Council felicitates with Journalists, urges unity, professionalism
As Christians across the world celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, joins in extending warm Easter greetings to all journalists and residents of the FCT.
In a message to mark this year’s Easter festivities, the Chairman of Council, Comrade Grace Ike, urged journalists and Nigerians at large to reflect on the true essence of Easter, which centres on sacrifice, hope, renewal and unwavering faith.
She noted that the resurrection of Christ symbolises the triumph of good over evil, and of life over death, adding that this season should inspire renewed commitment to the values of unity, selflessness, and resilience.
“As media professionals, we have a responsibility to promote peace, justice and national cohesion. Let us use this season to strengthen our resolve to uphold the ethics of our noble profession and continue to serve as the conscience of society,” Comrade Ike stated.
While acknowledging the economic and social challenges currently facing the nation, she expressed optimism that with collective effort, steadfastness, and trust in God, better days lie ahead.
The Chairman further enjoined journalists to prioritise their safety while discharging their duties and to remain dedicated to the pursuit of truth and fairness.
The NUJ FCT Council wishes all Christians a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration.
